digital mapping in real time. With these techniques,
REI's mapping team surveyed a 140-mile pipeline route
in a single day. Normal aerial reconnaissance of the
same route would have taken three days, and a four person
survey crew on the ground would have taken months. Typical
cost of an exploratory route survey using real time
GPS can be as little as 1/15th of that for conventional
photogrammetry.
REI specializes in converting
paper maps into useful, state-of-the-art Geographical
Information System (GIS) based management information
system. REI Mapping and Survey Team provide cost-effective
conversion programs whereby the owner's management team
establishes what specific informational goals are desired.
Once these goals have been established, REI's team converts
the existing paper / vellum alignment sheets into a
digitized image. Once digitized, this information can
be linked to a variety of databases, which can be organized
into a number of management informational tools.

the latest versions of computer aided design software
together with proprietary software and will likely be
able to interface with your existing engineering software.

a master pipeline data model that includes graphics

has proven to be the most productive and cost effective
approach to the generation of alignment sheets, property
plats and other construction documents. The master model
is derived from a variety of information sources. These
sources include on-site surveys (conventional or GPS),
line location, digital-aerial photography and existing
drawings or reference materials. REI’s master model
concept has been utilized by numerous major pipeline
companies.
