SCADA / Control
and Instrumentation Systems
The values of an automated
system can be measured in terms of operating cost savings
resulting from:
- Real-time alarms
which allow timely response to correct problems and
restore service.
- Real-time monitoring
reduces product loss due to equipment failure and
pin points the exact location of a malfunction.
- Reduction in "down-time"
by early detection of system problems.
- Intelligent operating/engineering
decisions can be made from data available 24 hours
a day.
- Unnecessary trips
to the field to insure that the equipment is functioning
normally.
- Automatic or on-demand
report generation for alarm conditions or production
information.
- REI’s integrated
system gives you control over your system, so you
can cut down-time.
As
a management tool, an integrated system will allow you
to re-allocate resources to useful tasks. It allows
operators to use their time more efficiently and allows
them to take care of trouble spots immediately. An automated
system will increase the productivity of your personnel
and your operation. Many time consuming tasks, such
as changing parameters in the field can now be performed
without leaving the office. Technology makes your entire
organization more productive.
An integrated system
ensures access to event logs, flow data, calibration
data, historical data and much more. Increased speed
and availability of data allows the operator to make
the proper decision.
All this streamlining
means you’re in a better position competitively. You
can promise and provide your customers a stable and
continuous product. More importantly, with reliable
information you can respond to changing market conditions,
customer demands and regulatory requirements quickly
and efficiently. And this, in the end, will make your
operation more profitable.
REI is an industry leader
in pipeline SCADA system development. Recent projects
have included state-of-the-art high speed, fiber optic
communications system as a backbone for pipeline control
and campus communications systems. In addition to fiber
optics, REI has completed projects using traditional
remote communications systems such as dial-up analog
phone lines and T-1 level communications. We have experience
in VSAT technologies in addition to Spread-Spectrum
and 400 MHz radio systems.
REI
has broad-based expertise in SCADA and control system
development and design. These areas include work on
petroleum pipelines, water treatment plants, sanitary
facilities, and petroleum refineries. Our programming
experience includes most major PLC manufactures such
as the ALLEN-BRADLEY, MODICON, and GE-FANUC lines. In
addition, REI works with several other smaller PLC systems
to engineer optimal control when the power of a PLC
is needed but the expense of larger systems is prohibitive.
REI engineers have worked
with the following man-machine interfaces: Intellution
(FIXDMACS), WONDERWARE, and SCREENWARE. REI has used
several of these products to provide low-cost, networked
control systems for distributed controllers. In addition
REI has worked with top-end SCADA systems including
Neles Automation (S/3SCADA), and Teledyne’s VECTOR.
Development of these systems has included leak detection
modeling and training simulator development including
emulation of the PLC control devices by integration
of IEC 1131 compliant programming languages.

or Controls problem? Call on REI. We can build a communication
and control system that works for your company.
