Pipeline Integrity/Rehabilitation
Rooney
Engineering Inc. (REI) continues to employ
new technology and project management techniques in
the rehabilitation of pipelines in the United States.
Many of the vital pipeline transmissions system constructed
during the last 40 or 50 years continue in operation
today. Changing economics, operating constraints and
changes in clientele often force companies to reconsider
the overall economic effectiveness of these older pipelines.
When companies elect to change product service from
one grade to another, or to examine how they may improve
operating efficiencies, they must first understand the
physical condition of the pipeline. REI can help with
this evaluation. From cleaning tools, geometry pigs
or magnetic flux inspection equipment, REI has the experience
to understand what goals are important to the owner
and help establish the most cost-effective, operations
sensitive inline inspection program for your company.
REI is on the cutting
edge of pipeline inspection and integrity evaluation
projects. Recently our firm participated in the latest
inline inspection technology involving the use of the
new Transverse Flux Inspection (TFI) tool. This technology
was applied on the rehabilitation of a 520-mile portion
of a major crude oil line. TFI technology uses a cross-sectional
scanning method of inspection, which can detect flaws
that run parallel to the centerline of the pipe, including
defects associated with the longitudinal weld seam.
Using this new technology, REI's Project Management
Team and associated professionals can precisely locate
these flaws in the pipeline and initiate corrective
action to repair the fault. Repairs are made to the
system, documented according to DOT Standards and the
pipeline placed back into service with minimal down
time and cost to the client. We can help your firm rehabilitate
your pipeline probably at a fraction of the cost of
building a new line.
Is your company considering
a new Pipeline Integrity Program? Have recent pipeline
failures in the United States raised the question of
inline inspection programs in your company? If you need
help, call on REI. Our integrity team can help your
firm analyze your pipeline assets and help you evaluate
the situation.
